You will experience the Challenge Mindset and learn how to use it to immediately discover a new approach to career exploration and prepare for success. This simple shift will unlock new opportunities, a fresh perspective and change the way you see your future.

Presenter: JP Michel, Founder of Sparkpath  

JP Michel is on a mission to change the way we prepare people for their careers. His work in human resources consulting gave him the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the world’s largest organizations. JP took these lessons learned to start his company, SparkPath, where he does career and leadership development with youth and leaders. JP has a master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology and is the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Career Professional award from the Career Professionals of Canada.

Skills Speak: A Workshop about Translating Experiential Learning to Your Resume- Looking to “glow-up” your resume and stand out from the rest? Is your resume a list of tasks or achievements? Have you taken part in experiential learning but don't know how to share that with employers? Join Brittney & Kate to learn how to decode a job posting, translate your curricular and co-curricular experiential learning to what employers are looking for, and create a resume that reflects everything you can bring to your next job!

Presenters: Brittney McManus and Kate Hoad-Reddick

Brittney is a proud Gryphon and graduated from the Honours Psychology Co-op program at the University of Guelph in 2015. She completed her third co-op term as a Marketing Assistant with Co-operative Education & Career Services (CECS), after which she was pleasantly “voluntold” to join the Career Services Peer Helper team. As a Peer Helper, she assisted students with their resumes, cover letters, and interview skills. After graduating, she worked for a non-profit organization as an Employment Counsellor, coaching youth and adults on their job searching and employment skills. Brittney completed the Career Consultant program at Mohawk College and returned to CECS in August 2017. Now in her role as Student Programs Coordinator at the Experiential Learning Hub (previously CECS), Brittney provides career advising, supports experiential learning initiatives, and supervises the very Peer Helper team where it all started.

Dr. Kate Hoad-Reddick in an Experiential Learning Developer and sessional instructor in the College of Arts at the University of Guelph. Kate is passionate about empowering students to see their own potential. With degrees in English, Theatre, and Media Studies, Kate is an expert in translating academic achievements into transferable and attractive employability skills. With experience working in the non-profit arts sector, educational fundraising and development, academic instruction, and relationship management, Kate brings her communications experience to her own professional journey. Kate believes learning the language of your own skills is an essential step in starting your career and she takes every opportunity to help students discover their own voice and goals.
