Congratulations to Our Peer Helpers

It was a very exciting year for the CECS Peer Helpers!

Two of our Peer Helpers received awards at the Peer Helper Banquet on Friday April 1st 2016.
 
Kirsten Galea,  who is a Biomedical Engineering major received an Academic Award for having the highest academic average of graduating peers.  Kirsten will be attending graduate school for Biomedical Engineering in Victoria, British Columbia in Fall 2016!
 
Brianna Guild, who is a Biochemistry student was nominated and was the winner of the 1st Annual Barbara Cardow Award. The Barbara Cardow Award seeks to recognize a Peer Helper who, like Barbara, offers consistent support to others and embodies excellence in student service. Brianna was a  CECS Senior Peer Helper during the 2015/2016 academic year. Brianna has played a crucial role in editing and reviewing CECS Peer Helper Blogs, recruiting new peers and senior peers, organizing and facilitating team building activities and social events, as well as  being an active mentor for new and returning peers. Brianna has done some major career exploration this year and wants to become a Speech Pathologist.  Brianna is an amazing Peer Helper and has set the standards for those who will receive the Barbara Cardow Award in the coming years.
