Changes to Experiential Learning Services Amid COVID-19
The recent announcement regarding COVID-19 and the University's response to this concern has resulted in changes to some of our service delivery.
*Please note that services provided by Experiential Learning are now being provided via alternative methods. The EL Hub building is closed, however staff will continue to work remotely. Please click here to get the email address of the staff member that you would like to reach.
Career Advisor Appointments
Career Advisors are available for appointments through a virtual/ online delivery option (Teams in Office 365). To book an appointment, login to your Experience Guelph account and in the left hand menu, click on "Career" and then "Appointments".There are limits to the number of appointments you can cancel, as well as the number of appointments that you do not attend. The maximum number of cancelled appointments (per semester) is set at three (3). The maximum number of no-show (unattended) appointments (per semester) is set at two (2). After you reach this maximum, the system will not let you book an appointment and you will have to speak to our office to have this rectified.
Students who have questions or concerns about their current work term, please contact your Co-op Coordinator. Coordinators will be available by email, phone and skype.Students who have questions about their Summer 2020 interviews, please contact your Co-op Coordinator, or the Employment Services Team.
COOP*1100 W20 Students - We will be switching to an online appointment model until further notice. We will be using the ZOOM software, which is the same tool that we use for webinars. Any appointments booked through ExperienceGuelph.ca will be facilitated online. You can always email your instructor at email@example.com to book an appointment.
1st Year Applications for Co-operative Education
The deadline to apply to Co-operative Education (for 1st year students), remains for Friday April 3rd, at 4:00 p.m. Students are asked to email their application package to firstname.lastname@example.org, rather than dropping them off in our office. If you are required to submit an Undergraduate Schedule of Studies Change form and cannot acquire your Program Counsellor's signature, omit the document from your application package and we will follow up at a later date to have it submitted. Peer Helper Appointments
From March 23rd – April 10th, Career Services Peer Helpers will be able to assist undergraduate students with resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile critiques as well as mock interviews by providing feedback through email or virtual appointments.
“Drop-in” virtual appointments will be offered from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00 Monday to Friday by using Microsoft Teams. Simply contact email@example.com through Chat in Microsoft Teams, and the available Peer Helper can begin a video call or offer assistance through instant messaging. You can also book an appointment through Experience Guelph for a virtual meeting with a Peer Helper, by logging in and selecting “Career” > “Peer Appointments”. If you book an appointment, a Peer Helper will video call you at the scheduled time.
Alternatively, please email your resume, cover letter, or LinkedIn profile url to firstname.lastname@example.org and a Peer Helper can provide feedback through email during the same hours noted previously.
