Capacity Building Funding Resources
Note that many of the funding sources below are targeted towards organizations that are expanding their operations. However, salary and wages are eligible costs, therefore these funding programs may aid you in recruiting from the University of Guelph.
Eastern Ontario Development Fund: Businesses in the Eastern Ontario region are eligible for up to 15% of project costs up to a max of $1.5 million. The following sectors are eligible: advanced manufacturing, life sciences, processing, information and communication technology, tourism, and cultural industries.
NextGen Biofuels Fund: Provides funding for renewable fuel companies. Will cover up to 40% of eligible costs, but must be repaid within ten years.
Ontario Innovation Tax Credit: A 10% tax credit, up to a max annual credit of $300,000 available to all corporations that perform scientific research and experimental development in Ontario.
Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit: A refundable tax credit available for interactive digital media product companies for labour and marketing costs (up to $100,000).
Rural Economic Development Program: Funding is flexible to support a variety of sizes and types of projects that have the potential to develop the economy of rural communities, and covers up to 50% of project costs. Deadline: September 29th, 2017
Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program: Tax credit available to organizations that conduct research and development in technologically advanced products or processes. Private corporations can earn an investment tax credit of 35% up to the first $3 million, while other corporations can earn up to 20%.
